The Land I Bought Was Sold To Someone Else. What Should I Do?

I bought a plot of land a couple of years ago from a family; did a survey plan and a deed of assignment was executed between my goodselve and the family.
The survey didnt state the exact location of the land other than one plot.
Last year, I observed that the family (different from the vendors that sold the one plot to me) had sold same plot to another person.
I inquired from him what he was doing on the land, he said he bought the land from the family and showed me purchase receipt and deed of assignment executed between him and the family and a registered survey plan.
I was so very angry that I removed the building materials i saw on the land.
In retun he has filed an action in court claiming that the land belongs to him and that I am a trespasser.
What in your view, would you advise me to do in the circumstance?
