The Forsaken Benin City
by Brandon Haywood aka Bini Boy
(Newark, New Jersey, USA)
I was borne and educated in Benin city in the late 1960s to mid 1970s.
Back then, the city was safe and people were friendly. In a sense we took care of each other and we look out for one another. Oba Akenzuwa was on the throne.
It's a shame what "Bini mothers" are doing to their sons and daughters: particularly, their Daughters.
I had a similar experience with a young Bini lady that I was proposed to marry. My family actually paid the dowry and did traditional marriage on my behalf while I was in the United States.
However, her mother was allowing and encouraging her to bring other men to her house to come and spend the night with her daughter (my suppose wife) while I am still married to her; just for money.
Some parents are wicked and they are not fit to be parents.
The Binis have lost their glory which they can never regain or recover except by the grace of God. Their women are sexual perverts and their men are criminals and thives who are destined for destruction.
We as people (the Binis, not the Edos), by the way, there is difference between the "Binis and Edos", it's not easy to tell except you a Bini proper ie 100 percent Bini.
The ruling administration both past and present has blood of the citizens, they secret murdered, in their hands and the blood of those that were killed maliciously are crying out.
I read in the America Medical journal couple of weeks ago; listen to this, it will shock you to bones.
Of the 4.8 million HIV infested population of Nigeria, guess what, 78 percent of them are from Edo state; particularly, the so-called Binis both men and women.
We the Edos were once the pride of the whole nation of Nigeria, now, see what greed and foolishness has done to them.
Sometimes, I am ashamed to be called a "Bini". I want to be clear about this; the "Bini people" are not intelligent as we claim to be.
Some of their men are the most lazy and irresponsible individuals I have ever known. They always depend on their parents to house and feed them even when they are married with children.
Take a look around you in the community you live. I am sure you'll agree with me.
It's like what prophet Isaiah said in the holy scripture: Isaiah 1:4-10. Please, make sure to read this chapter and verses; it's an eye opener.
The Bini people have lost their tradition and customs. Strangers have come to take their lands/properties and mostly they have lost their women to strange people.
I want to thank you for your well written article and for alerting us (the Edos) to this sorry situation and affliction that is upon the Bini people.
PS: I will only use my pen name, but I'll tell you the city, State and country that live.
