Small Bathroom Lagos Nigeria - Free Small Bathroom Tips

Small bathroom Lagos Nigeria - Lagos real estate owners now have the habit of building small bathrooms. The reason why they do this is basically to reduce the space or amount of square metres per flat.

The space reduction drive by landlords does not only affect the bathroom. It affects every part of the home.

For example . . .

  • living room space is getting smaller in new regular apartments.
  • bedroom size is getting smaller
  • balcony or verandah is smaller and has even disappeared in some home designs
  • kitchen space is also smaller and
  • dining area has virtually disappeared
  • What do Nigeria real estate owners or landlords do with all the space saved from building small kitchen and small apartment?

Well, if the space required per flat reduces, it simply means that landlords can build more flat per plot since less space is required per flat.

Is this not violating tenant rights?

Many tenants will likely shout, "YES!"

On the other hand, landlords will argue that it is landlord right to decide his building design. And if any potential tenant doesn't like the building design, he is free to rent property somewhere else.

The truth is . . . you cannot do anything about home design in Lagos Nigeria. Landlords have a right to build any kind of building they like as long as it does not violate the Lagos state building code.

So, your concern should not be about landlords that build small residential real estate. The question really should be, "how do I manage a small bathroom effectively?".

If you're stuck with a small bathroom, the first thing to do is to unclutter the bathroom.

When a bathroom is small, it means that there is little space for moving around. It also means that the space available is just sufficient to . . .

  • accommodate one person taking his bath at a time
  • accommodate the bucket you need to take your bath, if there is no bathroom shower
  • accommodate one water storage container in properties that do not have constant flowing water

Everything else should be outside the bathroom.

The limited space also means that . . .

  • you and your wife cannot be in the shower together (if you have the habit of bathing with your wife)
  • you cannot have more than one child with you in the bathroom when you bath your kids and
  • you cannot store more that a few stuff you need in the bathroom

Obviously, bathrooms that are small come with peculiar challenges.

One way you can deal effectively with the challenges presented by a bathroom that is small is to use bathroom cabinets in your bathroom.

Bathroom cabinets allow you to virtually increase the space of your bathroom.

    How?

Well, when you install overhead bathroom cabinets in your bathroom, you actually create more space in the bathroom. You can store . . .

  • soaps
  • sponges
  • containers and
  • accessories

    . . . in the bathroom cabinet.

Having a bathroom that is small is a constraint. But you can manage this to your benefit with a bit of creativity and ingenuity.
