Single Woman Inheriting Mothers House

Can an American single woman who came to Lagos to take care of her sick mother inherit and sell her mothers house or does she have to marry before that can take place?

Everyone she has talked to says she has to be married so if she doesnt marry what happens to the house does the state take the property away from her rightful posession?

Your relatives want to strip you of your inheritance

You don't need to marry anyone to inherit your mother's property.

Your relatives may have set that as a pre-requisite for you but it is not the norm.

When parents die, selfish extended family members come up with strange rules in the name of tradition to attempt to steal the children's inheritance.

Your relatives may be trying to play a fast one on you.
