Rent To Own Real Estate Lagos Nigeria - Free Tips To Grow From Tenant To Landlord

Rent to own real estate Lagos Nigeria - Rent to own is the concept of moving from being just a tenant whose tenant rights are violated despicably and heartlessly by landlords, to a landlord who is respected and valued by tenants.

Yes, you can move from being just another tenant to a landlord in Lagos. All you need is a bit of careful forethought, careful planning, and a measure of creativity. It all starts with adopting the landlord mindset.

What does that mean?

Well, it's pretty simple. In simple terms it means . . . you can become whatever you want to be if . . .

  • You dream it
  • Believe it
  • Go for it and
  • Live it
  • With respect to graduating from rent to own - from being a tenant to a landlord - you can, if you believe you can. It really doesn't matter how much you earn. It's whether you desire to be a landlord and how badly you want it.

If you strongly desire to be a landlord or a Lagos Nigeria real estate owner, you will . . .

  • Passionately pursue it
  • Passionately believe it will happen someday
  • Passionately save for it
  • Passionately pursue all genuine real estate investment window and
  • Passionately succeed

Let me repeat this again: The problem is not how much you earn. It's about whether you believe you should invest in real estate or not. It's about whether it's a priority for you or not. It's about whether you want to do this now, later, or never.

Let me tell you a story. This is a real life rent to own story. It is the story of my journey from being a tenant to a bonafide landlord in Lagos Nigeria.

I started as a management trainee in a beverage producing company in Lagos in 1997. I was a tenant between 1997 and 2005, a period of 8 years.

In 1999 I had the opportunity to buy a plot of land in conjunction with my colleagues somewhere before Mowe. But I didn't. Instead I invested in some other venture. Again in 2001, I invested in a computer business and cyber cafe.

Well, we all know the history of cyber cafes in Nigeria. Over 80 percent fail. In the same characteristics style, my computer and cyber cafe business failed. In the process, I lost about 7 million Naira.

If I had invested that in real estate at that time, by now I would have been smiling to the bank big time.

The truth is . . . I knew the value of real estate. I knew real estate was big business. I desired to graduate from being a tenant to a landlord - from rent to own. But I pushed it into the future.

    This was my strategy.

My plan was to first develop and run a viable business. And then use the proceeds of the business to buy homes for sale or build my own home.

That was a great strategy. But I failed to reckon with two things:

    1. Business is tough. Only about 5-10 percent of people who get into business actually succeed long-term.

    2. Real estate investing is business. In fact, real estate investing is the biggest business of all.

    Here is a startling fact.

It's easier to succeed at real estate investing than to succeed at any other business. Virtually no skill is required to make huge returns on investment from your Nigeria real estate.

    Simply . . .

  • talk to the right real estate brokers or real estate agencies
  • engage the services of a trustworthy real estate attorney and
  • take advantage of every viable real estate investment opportunity available
  • Here is something to think about.

    1. 90 percent of business enterprises or small business people fail within 1 - 5 years of being established

    2. 90 percent of real estate investors succeed

Which will you rather invest in? Business or real estate?

    My advice?

Choose real estate investing. It is a "No Brainer". The success rate is higher and the running capital is negligible.

You can do this irrespective of how much you earn. Yes, you can Upgrade yourself from being a tenant to being a landlord. You can move from rent to own . . . from tenant to landlord. And pretty fast too.

    How?

    Here's a two-step summary:

    1. Mentally decide that you will become a landlord soonest and

    2. Take advantage of every realistic investment opportunity

This was exactly what I did. When I mentally decided that it was time to build my own home, I pulled resources from everywhere I could lay my hands on them. And within six months, July to December 2005, I built myself a lovely bungalow and graduated from tenant to landlord.

Believe me, it was an exhilarating experience. The feeling is beyond words. It was simply . . . beautiful.

I could have done it earlier but I didn't. I wasn't mentally prepared for it.

Imagine that I started real estate investing back in 1999 when I first had the opportunity to buy a plot of land. By now I would have had three or more properties in my name.

So, don't be like me who started pretty late. Start now.

    I wish you success.
