Apartment Buildings - Free Apartment Building Guide

Apartment buildings Nigeria. The typical apartment building in Nigeria comes in various shapes and sizes. The purpose of this guide is to help buyers, sellers, as well as tenants make the right choice.

If you were born and bred in Nigeria, you're probably already familiar with what is obtainable in Nigeria.

However, foreigners thinking of investing in Nigeria real estate may find our designs somewhat strange because they are not familiar with Nigeria architectural designs. Even if you grew up in Nigeria, you will find the discussion in this building guide enlightening.

Now let's get down to some details.

Apartment buildings in Nigeria come in several formats. The common formats are:

  • Bungalows - 2 or 3 or 4 bedrooms
  • Twin 2 or 3 bedroom apartment with a ground floor building
  • A block of four flats, each 2 or 3 bedroom
  • A block of 6 or 8 flats
  • Boys quarters within a compound with the main building in front
  • A block of self-contain one bedroom flats
  • A semi-detached duplex
  • A detached duplex
  • Flats with master bedroom (ensuite) and second toilet for the other rooms to share
  • Block of flats with all rooms ensuite

The above are available singly or in combinations depending on the wishes of the property owner.

If you're buying or letting any residential real estate apartment, your primary concern will be your taste and your budget. If you have great taste but don't have the budget to make your taste a reality, then it's better to let your budget (or the size of your pocket) be the deciding factor.

Should you buy an already built residential or commercial apartment block or should you build instead?

Again, it depends on you. If you have the time and the patience to monitor the building project, then go ahead and build your own home yourself. Otherwise, it pays to buy an already built home. In fact, you may find that sometimes it's cheaper to buy outright rather than engage building contractors, many of whom tell big lies to make their pocket fat with profit.

If you're a tenant seeking to rent an apartment where you will have peace of mind, you also have several opportunities to get good value for your money. The apartment guide section on this site provides some good hint for renting the apartment of your dreams.
